Your Furry Friend Deserves the Best - Why Harfields Pet Retreat is the Perfect Choice for Small Dogs

Dogs have been our best friends since before any of us can remember. But they are more than friends. They are family members, and most of us would gladly take them when we take a week or two in the sun or on the slopes. However, not only is this not practical, but it would also be stressful for our dogs.

Most of us have two choices. Firstly we can entrust friends or family members to look after our dogs or place them in a boarding kennel while enjoying our holiday. But, unfortunately, boarding kennels conjure up quite negative images for most of us: long rows of cages full of barking dogs and cold concrete floors.

For most dogs, this is a shock to the system. They go from having lots of attention and cuddles on the sofa to a mesh cage.

Smaller dogs get more attention at home, so the shock is often much worse.

At Harfields Pet Retreat, we take pride in providing exceptional care for small and medium-sized dogs. Our luxury boarding kennels are designed to ensure that your furry friend feels safe, comfortable, and loved while you're away on holiday. So if you're looking for a place where your furry friend can relax, Harfields Pet Retreat is the place for them.

- Tailored Service for Small and Medium Dogs -

At Harfields Pet Retreat, we understand that small dogs have unique needs that require special attention. That's why we only accommodate small and medium-sized dogs up to 50cm at the shoulder. We understand that small dogs have different needs. For example, a delicate and pampered 2kg Chihuahua requires very different care than a robust 30kg American Bulldog.

Our canine guests receive a tailored service considering their size, temperament and personality. By limiting our guest list to smaller breeds, we can provide a safe, comfortable and relaxing environment.

- Excellent Employee-to-Dog Ratio -

At Harfields Pet Retreat, we believe that every dog deserves individual attention and care. We only have 12 kennels, ensuring a high employee-to-dog ratio. Our staff is dedicated to providing high care for each dog. We get to know our guests individually and provide one-on-one care and attention.

Our guests get to relax in the comfort of their suite, which is not only individually heated but also has a television for company.

They are kept entirely separate from other dogs to reduce the likelihood of stress. They get up to 3 exercise periods per day when a staff member will actively play with them. There will be lots of human interaction with your dog each day.

- Large Exercise Paddocks -

We understand that exercise and playtime are essential for a dog's well-being. Just because your small dog has little legs doesn’t mean they don’t like running around and stretching them. That's why we provide spacious exercise paddocks where your furry friend can run, play and stretch their legs. We have gone to great lengths to create an environment where our furry guests can release their energy and have fun.

Our exercise paddocks are perfect for energetic dogs who love to run and play. We don't just let your dog out to amuse him or herself. A member of the Harfields team will actively play with your dog, whether that is a game of fetch or just some cuddles and attention.

- Luxury Suites -

Small dogs generally enjoy more lavish luxury at home than larger ones. That's why we provide luxury suites designed to ensure your furry friend feels as relaxed and comfortable as they would at home. Our suites come with central heating and comfortable beds, creating a cosy and comfortable environment.

Additionally, our suites are equipped with TVs to keep our guests entertained during their stay. We understand that leaving home can be stressful for small dogs, and our suites create a safe and welcoming environment. And, of course, your dog can bring their favourite toys and bedding to feel like they are at a 'home from home'.

Finally, each suite is wholly enclosed and soundproofed so that your dog will not see or hear any noisy neighbours, which could cause your dog stress and anxiety.

- Expert Care and Attention -

At Harfields Pet Retreat, we believe that every dog deserves expert care and attention. Our team of professionals are trained to provide high-quality care that ensures your furry friend feels loved and cared for. We provide personalised care and attention, considering each dog's unique needs. In addition, we provide daily exercise, human interaction and relaxation, creating an environment where our furry guests can thrive.

- Conclusion -

In conclusion, our facility is designed to ensure our guests feel safe, comfortable and loved while their owners are on holiday. At Harfields Pet Retreat, we believe every dog deserves to have fun, be happy and feel loved.

So, if you're looking for a place where your furry friend can relax and have fun while you're away on holiday, book your dog's stay at Harfields Pet Retreat today. We founded Harfields Pet Retreat because we could not find a boarding kennel where we were happy to leave our two toy Poodles while we went on holiday. This is an issue for many small dog owners, so we wanted to provide a facility that dogs would enjoy coming to as much as we love having them.

Harfields Pet Retreat is much more than just a boarding kennel where you can safely place your dog on holiday. As our name suggests, we provide a relaxing environment for your dog to enjoy so you can go on holiday safely, knowing that your loved one will be looked after just as they would be at home.

We are based in Curdridge on the outskirts of Southampton in the south of Hampshire. We are located less than a 20-minute drive from Southampton airport.
